Ashley's Not So Solo Ride from Vienna to Budapest

Ashley is a speech pathologist from Canada who decided to ride solo from Vienna to Budapest. However, as one does on the Eurovelo 6, Ashley met a fellow solo female rider, Katherina from Germany, and completed the rest of the journey with her new Eurovelo 6 companion.

How would you describe your Eurovelo 6 Experience in one sentence

The ride was beautiful and made me feel completely at peace.

Why did you decide to ride the Eurovelo 6?

I wanted to explore a foreign country in a unique way, but also challenge myself physically to do the ride as I’ve never done bike touring before but love to be on a bicycle.

What was the highlight of your trip?

The ride from Esztergomto Visegrad was stunning. Almost completely removed from traffic and along the Danube.

What was the most challenging part of your trip?

Riding in 37 degrees Celsius.

What was your favourite town/city and why?

Esztergom was a beautiful small town with a rich history. You have the ability to climb up the mountain and get a gorgeous view of the town and Danube.

What time of the year did you ride the Eurovelo 6?

Summer. It wasn’t very busy at all.

Would you do it again?

I would love to do this type of trip again.

Do you have any advice for fellow riders deciding to ride the EuroVelo 6?

Give the ride a try!

Would you recommend our bike rental services to your friends and family?

From what I could see in comparing my experience and my bike to the other rentals I encountered on the route this was by far the best company. They were so helpful and the bike and equipment was of great quality. Worth every penny! I hope to use this company next summer when I take my dad on the same route. I would recommend them to any family or friends.

How did you find the Trekking Bikes and equipment provided by Vienna Explorer or Buda Explorer?

The bike was excellent and reliable. No problems in six days of riding.
