Arno & Heather from South Africa

Arno and his wife both decided that they would take the challenge and discover Europe by bike for the very first time. Being novices to this style of holidaying (but not to bike riding), they both decided to take the option of an E-Bike so that they could both just sit back and relax and let the bike do most of the work for their trip from Vienna to Budapest.

Which Eurovelo 6 route did you ride?

Vienna to Budapest

How would you describe your Eurovelo 6 Experience in one sentence

It was a unique and liberating way to travel - a fantastic trip!

Why did you decide to ride the Eurovelo 6?

It's mostly flat, mostly well signposted and just a wonderful way to see some awesome scenery.

A night on the town in Györ

What was the highlight of your trip?

Being able to share the cycling holiday with my wife! Actually, everything about the trip was just so good.

What was the most challenging part of your trip?

Getting excess luggage to the end, and on time!

What was your favourite town/city and why?

Budapest!

What time of the year did you ride the Eurovelo 6?

Spring. Not busy at all.

Would you do it again?

Over and over and over!

Do you have any advice for fellow riders deciding to ride the EuroVelo 6?

Bring gloves, waterproof jacket and cycling long pants for adverse weather. Use the Danube Biking book published by Bikeline, it is very good, and if it advises an aternative route, then take it.

Would you recommend our bike rental services to your friends and family?

Yes, absolutely. The staff were helpful, friendly and informed. Could not ask for better!

Thanks to Arno and Heather for the photos and sharing your experience with us :)
